Condé Nast is a sore loser, ends internship program

October 27, 2013

Following a lawsuit for underpaying interns, Conde Nast has announced that it flat out won’t take interns anymore.

In what is pretty depressing news for any journalism student, the company ended its internship program last Wednesday.

Condé Nast was sued in June by interns at W and New Yorker magazines for alleged wage violations, reportedly earning less than a dollar an hour. It is immensely disappointing that instead of restructuring the internship programs to meet already-pitiful minimum wage requirements, the company is simply ending a basic necessity for aspiring journalists.

According to CNN, Condé Nast’s lawsuit is nothing news; Fox Searchlight Pictures lost a similar case in June.
